  • Where has the time gone?

Half the year is gone!  Have you been as busy as I have been?  Looking forward to having company.

Our daughter, her daughter, and our son’s daughter are coming to visit.  The cousins are ten years apart in age but enjoy each other so much, especially since they only get to see each other once a year.  I remember as a child going to Hood River, Oregon to be with my aunt.  Other cousins came from Chicago and we spent our summers together for a number of years.  It was very special.

I made this quilt which I call Cherry Pickin’ Summers.  My aunt and uncle had an apple, pear, and cherry orchard.  Picking cherries was one of our many activities.  When we picked, I think more cherries ended up in our tummies than in the pails!

Another special time was spending time with my aunt who also helped me learn to bake.  We visited a friend of hers, who served some delicious Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, she shared the recipe with us and I am sharing it with you. Please comment if you decide to make them!

Here is the Block of the Month, a very simple block using the same techniques as last month.  It’s summer, let’s not get too complicated!

    And here is the quilt.
