As I mentioned on Facebook, I have been playing with some possible settings for the Block of the Month Appliqué blocks.  I hadn’t thought about a setting when I designed the blocks, so now that I have a few months done, I decided to try out some settings.

Most of you are probably familiar with EQ or Electric Quilt, which is a quilt design program for the PC and MAC.  I have used it for a long time, even though I am a MAC user, I purchased a PC, just so I could use it, because until last year it was ONLY for the PC.  The MAC version was finally introduced, so of course I upgraded to EQ7 for the MAC.

I have not used it to design appliqué blocks, but I have worked at it.  Just don’t feel as proficient as I do with Adobe Illustrator.

So since I didn’t have the appliqué blocks in EQ, I imported the photos of five of the blocks and using the photos as blocks, setting them with pieced blocks from EQ.

Now to the decision, which setting do I prefer?  Would love to hear from all of you.  Which one do you prefer?  Please leave your comments below. I do have a favorite, but I am not telling.

Is it quilt A, B, C, D or E?  Please don’t be confused because some of the appliqué blocks are the same, it isn’t about the appliqué, it is about the quilt setting.

  1. I like the wildness of B and C, but thick dark borders are not my thing….so I think I would do C with a border closer to E, maybe a little thinner border.

All of them are beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talent.

    • Thank you for your input. I always think of a a dark border framing the inner quilt. Always like to hear another point of view. I will keep that in mind.
